Life seems to present more questions than answers. There have been times when I thought I had a clue. Not any more. In fact, I’ve learned to be more afraid of a pat answer than the most probing question. Hey, some questions I have are probably mysteries that don’t have an answer. (Like, is it bad to pop my knuckles?)

But, no doubt there are some questions that need a response. I just don’t want to be getting all my answers from a talking head, a pundit, or a meandering blog. Now, I don’t mean to downplay the importance of those things; I just think there has to be a better way to discover what uncertainties are significant enough to demand conclusions.

I believe the most important inquiries—the ones that affect our lives and our kismet—are best worked out in the context of a loving community. Whether it’s in the form of an immediate or extended family or among authentic, caring friends, a community helps us to contextualize our questions and keep things in perspective. In other words, it’s good to have someone who will listen to us with an open mind and without judging.

Agora is that kind of loving community. It’s a place where asking questions is not only safe, it’s encouraged, because we realize that we don’t have all the answers. In fact, what we have mostly are our stories. Dozens of great stories. You see, the strength of our community is that we recognize we’re on a journey together, and everyone’s journey has its own path. And, each path is a story. And, our stories all intersect here.

If we can ever be there for you—to meet for coffee, to listen, to pray, or just to swap stories—don’t hesitate to contact us. There are small community groups that meet regularly, which would be a great way to hear some of our stories. We also meet weekly at Fontana Shopping Center. The coffee is always on, and we are available. We may not have answers, but maybe having someone who will listen could make a difference.
