The Prophets

“Prophet means mouth, or mouthpiece, one who speaks for another.” Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is the spokesperson for President Obama. His job is not to give his own opinion but to accurately reflect the thoughts, views, and sentiments of the President.

The prophets of scripture were far more than fortune tellers; they were the spokespersons for God. And as such they offer clues to our understanding of this mystery of human suffering.

From Moses to John the Baptist, there is one common thread that all the prophets expressed—the expectation of one who would answer, once and for all, the question of human suffering.

The clues from the prophets point us to Jesus.
